BURNABY, BC — Greco Tech Industries Inc. is proud to announce the publication of a significant intellectual property milestone that promises to redefine the landscape of commercial lighting retrofits. The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has published patent application US 2016/0081147 A1, titled "LED Tube Driver Circuitry for Ballast and Non-Ballast Fluorescent Tube Replacement."
Visionary Leadership
This innovation is a direct result of the forward-thinking technical strategy led by Leo Paskalidis, President of Greco Tech Industries. Recognizing a critical gap in the market for universal compatibility, Leo pushed the engineering team to solve one of the industry's most persistent challenges: the incompatibility between modern LED tubes and legacy fluorescent ballasts.
"Our goal was never just to make an LED light," says Leo. "Our mission was to remove the friction from energy adoption. By developing a driver circuit that intelligently adapts to both high-frequency pulse inputs from existing ballasts and direct line voltage, we've effectively future-proofed the retrofit process for millions of commercial buildings."
The Technology
Patent Abstract
"An LED lamp tube and driver circuit that is direct replacement for fluorescent tubes with or without ballasts, that works with standard AC high voltage current input, with high frequency pulse current input, or with lower voltage input... The input current is converted to DC through a rectifier circuit, is filtered of unwanted frequencies and voltage through a filter circuit, and is controlled with a step-down constant current circuit to drive an LED array within the tube."
This "universal" compatibility means facility managers can upgrade to energy-saving LED technology without the costly and time-consuming labor of bypassing ballasts or re-wiring fixtures. It represents a significant leap forward in reducing both CAPEX and OPEX for creating greener buildings.
