Leo Paskalidis Founder & President of Greco Energy
Leo Paskalidis is a Canadian inventor and clean energy pioneer. For over two decades, Leo Paskalidis has been at the forefront of energy innovation—from pioneering LED technology that revolutionized commercial lighting to building Canada's next-generation clean energy infrastructure.
"Our mission was never just to make an LED light. Our goal is to remove the friction from energy adoption—whether that's retrofitting a building with efficient lighting or transitioning an entire grid to clean power."
Engineering Tomorrow's Energy Today
Leo Paskalidis is the founder and President of Greco Energy and Greco Tech Industries Inc., headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia. With a career spanning over two decades in electrical engineering and energy systems, Leo has established himself as a pioneering force in bridging legacy infrastructure with cutting-edge technology.
His journey into innovation began with a fundamental belief: the greatest barriers to clean energy adoption aren't technological—they're practical. When commercial building managers faced the daunting prospect of rewiring entire facilities to upgrade to LED lighting, Leo saw an opportunity to solve a problem that had stymied the industry for years.
The LED Driver Breakthrough
In 2014, Leo led his engineering team at Greco Tech to develop a revolutionary LED driver circuit that would change the commercial lighting industry. The innovation was elegantly simple in concept but technically sophisticated in execution: a universal driver that could intelligently detect whether it was receiving high-frequency pulse current from a legacy fluorescent ballast or direct AC line voltage.
This meant facility managers could perform "drop-in" LED retrofits without the costly and time-consuming labor of bypassing ballasts or rewiring fixtures. The technology was published as USPTO Patent US 2016/0081147 A1 on March 17, 2016—a milestone that cemented Greco Tech's position as an innovator in energy-efficient infrastructure.
Technical Compliance
Every product built on Leo's patented driver technology adheres to strict global standards for safety and environmental sustainability.

From Lighting to Power Generation
Building on the success of Greco Tech's lighting innovations, Leo launched Greco Energy to tackle an even larger challenge: Canada's transition to clean power. Applying the same philosophy that drove the LED patent—removing friction from energy adoption—Greco Energy is deploying hydrogen-ready CCGT facilities, utility-scale solar, and AI-optimized EV charging infrastructure.
Leo's vision is pragmatic: deploy proven technologies today with clear upgrade pathways to full decarbonization tomorrow. It's a philosophy that resonates with investors, policymakers, and the Canada Infrastructure Bank alike.
